The purpose of this web site is to share and gather information on the various names in the database. Most of my research is in Hampshire and Northamptonshire, as well as links in Kent, Devon, Sussex, Cornwall Etc. I also have family connections in New Zealand and Australia.
I am researching both my mother and father's side of the family, my mother's maiden name was MORPHY, and my father's name was HARDING. I have included all the connected names I have found so far.
My research is still ongoing and I will be updating this website whenever I have new information. Most of my research has been verified but some of the pre 1837 research is not set in stone has yet. If you find any discrepancies or you think you have a connection, please contact me by Email or sign my guestbook.
To the best of my knowledge all details of people still living are hidden for security reasons!!
The Morphy Family
A bit about the Morphy family, my great-grandfather was Thomas Morphy he was born in New Zealand about 1849 a British subject. I have been unable to find his birth registration, I cannot find any sign of him before his marriage in 1875, and so I have been unable to go back any further. I only know from his marriage certificate that his father was also Thomas Morphy.
Thomas Morphy had seven children six of whom married and had children and I have been able to find living descendant's of all six. I have been fortunate in being able to meet some of them and I am hoping to have a Morphy family reunion in the not too distant future.
There are many photos on the website some are from immediate family member's photo albums. I have also been very lucky in that other Morphy family members that I have been in contact with have given me many photos. Moreover, this has helped me to build up a large collection of Morphy family photos, helping to put faces to names and I believe this is what family history is about.
I would like to say thank you to Wendy, Trudi, Ron, Graeme, Miranda, and Michael for all the fantastic photos they have kindly given me, I think the photos are of a great interest to many people, to be able to see what past relatives looked like it brings family history to life!
The Harding Family
Although I have done a fair amount of research on the Harding family, I have not had any luck with finding living descendant's. My Harding's seem to have originated from Portsmouth in as far have I have gone back to the late 1700?s. My grandfather Arthur Harding married Maria Emily Shergold and it is with the Shergold family that I have had a lot of luck in as much that I have done another Website please see link below. I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be related to my Harding family.
******************************************************************************* The name of Harding was brought to England by the Vikings, as the name was given to all from Hardanger Fjord then known as Hodderland see Anglo Saxon chronicles 787AD.
